Our 1st Junior League
Tonight was Lincoln Trident's first Junior League and what a great performance it was! We had 13 rookies that's over half that hadn't competed previously. The confidence and technical side was fantastic. The team supported each other from start to finish.
The competition was tough, as would be expected the other teams entered their top swimmers (many of which were County level swimmers), but that didn't faze our swimmers.
We fought to the end and never quit, the swimmers all went out and focused on their swims. We had some top 3 finishes and 1 new county time for Ewan on the 50m fly They have done themselves, their families and the Club so proud.
I would like to say thank you to Suzy, Michelle, James and Coral and Hayva the Junior League Captain for being there to support and organise the swimmers, the parents for bringing and supporting the swimmers and the swimmers who were fantastic. Thank you all.

No Frills Open Meet
Well done to Jacob (9) who has competed in his 1st Long Course competition at Sheffield No Frills. He had the 50m front crawl and 50m Back stroke where he PB'd in both swims and has qualified for the 10/11 year old county time in the 50m FC.
Well done.
Well done.
What a great age group and junior Midlands Tridents had. In the age group we had Becky and Mia competing in the 50m front crawl this was their first Midlands. Both girls were understandably nervous, but produced fantastic swims with Mia getting a PB. There was only .06 between them.
Jenni was competing in the junior Midlands and had her most successful Midlands so far. She qualified for the finals in all of her 7 swims and had 9 PBs (including the finals). She got 2 gold medals in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 2 silvers in the 50 and 100 front crawl.

British Championship 18-21 April
Lincoln Trident had their first swimmer attend the British Championships in Glasgow. Jenni qualified for the 50m frontcrawl and was swimming in the juniors. It was fantastic for Jenni to be mixing with some of the biggest names in British swimming such as James Guy, Freya Anderson, Hannah Miley, James Wilby, Duncan Scott and Adam Peaty to name just a few.
Jenni was very relaxed going into her race and it showed in her racing. Straight from the start she took control of her race and showed great speed through the water and finished well.
Jenni's Coach Ben said " Today was all about getting the experience at this level and Jenni certainly got that. I was really pleased with her swim in general but the start and finish which we've worked hard to improve they were brilliant."
Back home everyone from the club, her friends and family were watching Jenni's race and sending best wishes. The support was amazing.

County and Midlands Regional Swimming Championships
Counties
Over three weekends in February and March 2014, Jordan went to the Lincolnshire County Swimming Championships and preformed extremely well, achieving new personal best times for 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m backstroke and 400m IM. He also won a bronze medal and qualified for the Midland Regional Swimming Championships on the 200m backstroke.
Midlands
On the 3rd of May Jordan swam at the Midland Championships in the 200m backstroke, competing against the top swimmers throughout the whole of the Midlands region (East and West).
Jordan had a fantastic swim in the heats, qualifying for the final in 8th place, and then pulled off a great swim in the final where he achieved a pb (personal best), moving up to 5th place overall.
Although representing Lincoln Vulcans at both Championships, Jordan trains solely with Lincoln Trident Swimming Academy (LTSA). His coach, Ben Strathon, was extremely delighted for him, saying “Considering Jordan was going to give swimming up at the beginning of the year and hadn’t trained for 2-3 months, he has come back and worked extremely hard, becoming very focussed in training over the last few months, and because of this Jordan has achieved his goal.”
Jordan, who is a member of Total Fitness, trains 4 sessions in the pool and 3 in the gym each week. Jordan said “I really appreciate how supportive both members and staff have been towards me using the pool and gym.”

LTSA Swimmers Make a Splash at Boston Meet
Nine Lincoln Trident Swimming Academy (LTSA) swimmers made their debut at the 2014 Boston Open Meet. The four girls (Jennifer Horn, Ellie Irish, Megan Allington and Courtney Fawcett) and five boys (Lewis Crisp, Adam Crisp, Daniel Coupland, Kyle Kinnealey and Nathan Staples) swam in the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke events.
After initial nerves and surprise at the number of swimmers and spectators at this very full Meet, the swimmers all got into their stride during the warm up and by the time it came to race they were raring to go.
The first race (girls 50m freestyle) saw Ellie, Megan, Jennifer and Courtney swim full of confidence to achieve their first personal bests (PBs). The 50m breaststroke was equally impressive with the girls now relaxed and starting to race.

It was the turn of the boys on Sunday and following the good example of the girls on Saturday, Kyle, Adam, Lewis and Daniel all swam full of confidence in the 50m freestyle. The huge number of swimmers from many well-known clubs from Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and as far away as York City did not seem to faze them.
50m breaststroke in the afternoon session provided more outstanding swims by Nathan, Adam, Daniel and Kyle, Kyle being one of the youngest swimmers in the competition having only just turned 9 the weekend before.
Summing up the weekend, Ben Strathon (LTSA Coach) was full of praise for the swimmers “I was surprised how far the swimmers have come in 9 months from learn to swim to doing their first competition, I couldn't have dreamt for any better performance and results from them all, particularly considering they only train twice a week for one hour a session”.
“They all swam brilliantly, maintaining the technique we have been concentrating on in training and with no disqualifications, I couldn’t have asked for more from them”.

However more was exactly what Ben got, with Jennifer achieving County Championship Qualifying Times in both of her swims and winning a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke against a strong field of over 20 swimmers in her age group.
“We now have to wait to see whether the County ASA will allow Jennifer to swim at the Championships. This is down to their discretion.” Ben explained “LTSA is in the process of affiliating with the sport governing body, but in the meantime our swimmers are competing under the Temporary Membership Scheme. We understand from the governing body that there is nothing in the rules to stop the County allowing Jennifer to swim, but it is promoter’s discretion so if they don’t want her to swim they are entitled to say ‘no’. We hope that they will allow her to swim because she has earned it, but we will just have to wait to see what they decide”.
UPDATE : Very disappointingly the County ASA have chosen not to support Jennifer's development and have refused to allow her to swim at the County Championships.
